The Godalming Band has been in existence in its current form since 1937 and boasts both an active Senior and Youth band. The membership is a cross section of people, of all ages living in the local community.

The Godalming Youth Band exists independently of the Senior Band and welcomes players who are absolute beginners as well as those who may already have some experience. See the Youth Band section on the Godalming Band website.

Festival

Godalming Music Festival is held each year in February/March. It has classes to cater for most people and expects about 2500 entries. Classes are held for Music, Dance and Speech & Drama.

The 2012 festival runs from 25th February to 27th March 2012.

GYO sponsors the Concerto Class, for which this year the set piece is the slow movement from Mozart's 3rd Horn Concerto. The winner is invited to play the piece with the orchestra at its spring concert on Sunday 18th March 2012.

The annual competitive Woking Music Festival, held in November, is a celebration of the musical and literary vitality of Woking and the surrounding area. The Festival welcomes people of all ages and abilities, who can derive and give pleasure in participating, whatever their tastes or performing standard.

The Farnham Music Festival, held in November, is a friendly Festival, with over 140 Classes in Singing, Piano, Strings and Woodwind & Brass (including Ensembles). The festival is held at Frensham Heights School, 3 miles south of Farnham centre, in beautiful grounds over-looking the Frensham valley.
